US backs UN resolution condemning Syrian crackdown
The United States is joining the effort to put the United Nations on record as condemning Syria's crackdown on pro-democracy protests.
A White House spokeswoman says a UN Security Council resolution will bring more pressure on President Bashar Assad's regime to halt what she calls its "brutal repression of the Syrian people." (AP)
