Yasser Hangar and Biyan Awidat, who are 34 and 20 respectively, have been charged with throwing stones during a riot in which a police officer was hurt. The prosecution has also demanded their detainment until the finalization of proceedings against them.
Hangar has previously served a sentence of seven years and six months for crimes against the state.
Two other residents of the village are also being charged similarly, and the court remanded their arrests by three days Thursday.
As security forces fought against the wave of rioters from across the border, protesters in Majdal Shams began to throw stones, bricks, metal rods, and firebombs at soldiers and police. The two men, the indictment says, took part in the riots in which an officer sustained a head injury, requiring medical treatment.
Though Majdal Shams has assumed an air of normalcy after the events, many residents are still seething at the manner in which they were treated by security forces. One of the residents, an attorney, plans to file a suit against the police for keeping villagers from protesting near the border fence.
