Justice supports appointment of female director for Rabbinical Court
None
Supreme Court Justice Edmund Levy has expressed his support for the appointment of a woman to head of the Rabbinical Court. However, during a hearing at the High Court of Justice, Levy also proposed to withdraw a petition against the Minister of Justice, which demands for women to be allowed to contend for the role.
According to Levy, the current director of the Rabbinical Court, Rabbi Shlomo Dichovsky, is not a "controversial figure, even in the eye of the liberals." The petitioning groups - the Center of Jewish Pluralism and a number of women's organizations – decided against withdrawing their request. (Kobi Nahshoni)
