Israeli detained in Egypt made aliyah from US, friends say

The Israeli who was reported to have been arrested in Egypt on suspicion of espionage is apparently Ilan Grapel, whose friends say has immigrated to Israel from the US. His acquaintances told Ynet that he enlisted in the IDF's Paratrooper Brigade in 2005. The Foreign Ministry continues to investigate the reports of the arrest. (Ronen Medzini and Aviel Magnezi)
