US consul to Cairo meets with detained Israeli suspected of spying

The United States consul to Cairo met with Ilan Grapel, the Israeli man arrested and suspected of espionage in Egypt. Grapel entered Egypt using his US passport, which lead to the involvement of Washington in the matter.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry was informed by the Americans about the meeting: "We are in touch with the Egyptians and Americans, making sure he receives his rights. We hope he will be released soon." (Ronen Medzini)
