MK Yoel Hasson, chairman of the Knesset's State Control Committee, said that "It's intolerable that politicians' motive are under a constant cloud of suspicion.
"This perception is inclusive. It's unfair, dangerous and undemocratic, and it weakens the public. The systems today are not balancing each other, they are stifling each other."
The lack of clear government policy on such nominations, Hasson added, "Is a symptom of the government's indecisiveness. Elected officials bear the responsibility and therefore they should have more say in choosing the best people.
"They can't be held accountable on one hand, while being bridled on nominations on the other," he concluded.
