Lieberman: Assad should resign

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said at a press conference he held in Jerusalem with his German counterpart, Guido Westerwelle, that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad should resign his post immediately.

Lieberman added, however, that "There's no place for a military intervention, and at any rate it's not our role to discuss it." He explained that there are enough financial and political sanctions that can be used to pressure Assad to resign. (Ronen Medzini)
