Garbage trucks sent to gov't offices in protest of trash removal measure

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat dispatched a number of trash-filled garbage trucks to the government offices in the capital in protest of Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan's intention to limit the amount of trash sent to a landfill in Abu Dis, an east Jerusalem neighborhood.
Also as part the protest, the city has stopped trash collection from different sites throughout the city. The municipality said in a statement that the measure was taken as result of a "unilateral Environmental Protection Ministry decision that asks the residents of Jerusalem to pay for trash removal to the south, instead of the Jerusalem region."
