Bill proposing stricter sentences for hit-and-run perps passes initial round

The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee has accepted for a preliminary reading a bill proposed by MK Moshe Matalon, which calls for a stricter punishments for hit-and-run perpetrators.

 

As per the proposal, a person who abandons the scene of an accident after injuring a person might face a seven-year prison sentence. Also, if the perpetrator caused the victim severe injury, he might face a prison sentence of up to 14 years. (Moran Azulay)
