Israeli firm to teach Chinese kids English

Schoolchildren in China to study English using 100 million memory sticks distributed by Infinite Memory of Jerusalem-based JVP fund

Chinese students set to study English through Israeli technology: A joint project of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Israeli company Infinite Memory will see the distribution of some 100 million memory sticks for the study of English, which will replace the old-fashioned cassette players used by the Chinese schools so far.

In China, students learn English using electronic devices. The Infinite Memory technology will supply them with memory sticks for their MP3 players, containing the complete English study program for that school year.

The deal is estimated at tens of millions of dollars and could be expanded, as Chinese students receive for six years (from the fourth grade) a new curriculum every year. Following a successful pilot among 600,000 schoolchildren, the project is now being implemented among 100 million students.

Infinite Memory, of the Jerusalem-based JVP fund, specializes in fitting large amounts of information on memory cards at a low cost.

Its technology provides protection against malware, fraud, viruses and guarantees that the data cannot be deleted – parameters which were very important to the project's Chinese representatives.

The agreement was signed with XGL, China's largest optical media vendor, which distributed the devices with the educational material to Chinese schools.

XGL's general manager noted that the company chose to partner with Infinite Memory due to its "proprietary One-Time-Programming technology, competitive cost and unique security features which ensure that the copyrighted content is protected from piracy."
