Report: Wanted Egypt businessman arrested in Spain

A prominent Egyptian businessman wanted on suspicion of squandering public funds by selling gas to Israel below market prices has been captured in Spain, state news agency MENA reported on Thursday.

Egypt's Interpol head Magdy el-Shafie told MENA that Hussein Salem, one of ousted President Hosni Mubarak's closest aides and a major shareholder in East Mediterranean Gas (EMG), a company that shipped gas to Israel, was captured in Majorca. (Reuters)
