Barak wants to delay hearing on act that compromises his authority

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has demanded to postpone a government hearing scheduled for Sunday over a proposal to transfer the jurisdiction over the settlement movement from the Agriculture Ministry to the Prime Minister's Office. The measure would take away some of Barak's authority over Judea and Samaria construction.

Barak is currently out of the country. The Prime Minister's Office said that it is unclear at this point whether the discussion will take place as planned. (Attila Somflavi)
