PM considers downgrading Palestinian prisoners' confinement terms

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to reexamine the possibility of altering the confinement terms of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, sources in Jerusalem told Ynet. According to the sources, Netanyahu intends to gradually apply the recommendations made by former Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann, who proposed to eliminate some benefits that the detainees get.
Elements in the judicial system confirmed that preparations to address the report have been taking place recently. The recommendations have not been previously applied for fear of derailing the negotiations to release Gilad Shalit. (Attila Somfalvi)
