Abbas: If US offers alternative, we won't go to UN

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the stalled peace talks, saying that "If negotiations don't take place, I won't have any choice but to turn to the UN. I don't know if the United States has any other alternative, but if it has, we won't turn to the UN."
Abbas said in an interview for the Lebanese television channel LBS that "Presient Obama said that he wants to see an independent Palestinian state in September. The Quartet said the same thing. Fayyad's government has made the commitment to ensuring that all its institutions will be ready for a state and it is fully ready. These three reason have caused us to talk about September – in addition to the fact that no negotiations are taking place." (Roee Nahmias)
