EU slaps more sanctions on Syria

The European Union has hit the Syrian regime with more sanctions, targeting seven more individuals and four companies. The EU announced Thursday the expanded list of individuals and companies under sanctions was because of the "gravity of the situation" in the country.

The new measure brought to 34 the number of people and entities that are faced with an asset freeze and travel ban, including President Bashar Assad. The European Union also has an embargo on sales of arms and equipment that can be used to suppress demonstrations. (AP)
