Matisyahu leads festival near Auschwitz

Jewish rap and reggae artist plays for thousands of fans just miles from Oswiecim, Poland, in three-day music and camping event that celebrates youth and music and works to fight racism and anti-Semitism

One of our favorite Jewish rap and reggae artists, Matisyahu, played for thousands of fans at Saturday's Life Festival just miles away from Oswiecim, Poland (the town where the Auschwitz concentration camps were located).

Matisyahu was the headliner of the three-day music and camping festival, founded in 2010 that celebrates youth and music and works to fight racism and anti-Semitism.

He went on stage at midnight to perform his hits, including his anthem of peace, "One Day."

Though the festival was a hit, it was met with controversy – many people believe Auschwitz isn't the place for a music-filled party. Others feel it was the perfect choice for a festival devoted to tolerance.
