Israel names new military attaché to Turkey

IDF hopes appointment of Colonel Moshe Levy would further aid to thaw relations between Jerusalem, Ankara

The IDF has named Colonel Moshe Levy its new military attaché in Turkey, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Friday.

Levy, who currently serves as head of the Distric Coordination Office (DCO) in Gaza, will replace outgoing attaché Colonel Shelley Uchovsky, whose term ends in several weeks.

The tensions between Jerusalem and Ankara have rendered the once-desirable post less so, and according to the newspaper, it took considerable persuasion, including by Major-General Eitan Dangot, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, to convince Levy to agree to the post.

Levy is set to take office in July, and the IDF hopes it would aid in further thawing the chilled relations between the once-top strategic allies.
