The High Court of Justice rejected a petition presented by the parents of the late First Sergeant Kobi Smileg who was killed during the Second Lebanon War. The parents were appealing against the then Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi's decision to not take any action against the Deputy Battalion Commander Major Eli Michelson who in charge during the incident in which their son was killed.
The judges ruled that could not interfere with a decision that didn't exceed the range of reasonability. In response First Sergeant Smileg's father told Ynet: "The IDF erased Kobi and now the High Court says it doesn't care." (Aviad Glickman)
