Livni to Merkel: Talks are only way to end Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Opposition Chairwoman Tzipi Livni has met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and told her that negotioations are the only way to bring the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to an end. She added that preventing a unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state is more important than ever.

Livni, who is visiting Berlin, thanked Merkel for Germany's efforts to release captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. She also stressed that the international community must persist in the campaign to free the soldier. (Attila Somfalvi)
