State seeks to extradite Israeli accused of drug offenses to US

The State Prosecutor's Office has appealed to the Jerusalem District Court to declare Menachem Gigi, 48, eligible for extradition to the United States.
According to the petition, Gigi, an Israeli citizen, confessed as part of a plea bargain in the US to conspiring to possess heroin for distribution purposes, but fled to Israel a year and a half ago. If he is indeed extradited, he is expected to serve a prolonged prison term. (Aviad Glickman)
