EU: Croatia To Join EU In July 2013

Croatia on Thursday formally wrapped up negotiations to join the European Union and will become the bloc's 28th member on July 1, 2013, the European Commission said.
"Today is a historic day for Croatia," Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Gordan Jandrokovic said after the closure of six years of tough negotiations. The next step is the drafting of an accession treaty, which the commission said is expected to be signed by the end of the year. The treaty will then have to be ratified by EU states and Croatia.
