The Palestinian people and leaders wish to establish a state via peace negotiations with Israel, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said.
"This is the only policy whereby we'll be able to secure an independent Palestinian state," he said, but added that should talks fail, the Palestinians would proceed with their plan to elicit UN recognition of statehood. (Elior Levy, Ynet's Palestinian affairs correspondent)
