Erekat: US demanded Palestinians give up on UN appeal
Fatah Central Committee member Saeb Erekat said the United States has demanded the Palestinians withdraw their appeal to the United Nations to recognize a Palestinian state come September.
According to Erekat, who is currently visiting Washington, the Palestinians will be ready to return to the negotiations table with Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declare a construction freeze in the settlements and acknowledge the principle of a two-state solution bases on 1967 lines.
