US: Iranian weapons in Iraq increasing
The top US military official says weapons flowing from Iran into Iraq are becoming more lethal and sophisticated, just as Washington and Baghdad are negotiating whether American troops will remain in the country beyond the year's end.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says top levels of the Iranian government are aware of the boost in weapons shipments to Shiite extremists who launch them against US troops. He says the delivery of armor-piercing explosives and airborne homemade bombs has significantly increased in recent months. (AP)
