Eighty-four people were rescued after a boat believed to have been carrying 173 sank on Sunday in Russia's Volga River, an Emergencies Ministry official told Reuters. One woman was confirmed dead.
Regional ministry spokesman Oleg Zugeyev earlier said 167 people were rescued, but he later said he had been mistaken and that dozens remained unaccounted for. (Reuters)
