NIS 620 mln defense budget increase approved

The Knesset Finance Committee on Tuesday approved a NIS 620 Million ($182 million) increase to the defense budget. The request was approved after being delayed for a week over a condition stating that the defense establishment clarify the purpose of the funds.
The head of the Finance Ministry's budget department, Udi Nisan in his explanation to the committee said that the breakdown of expenses meant to be covered by the budget would be given to the Joint Defense Budget Committee which meets behind closed doors. (Zvi Lavi)
