Separatist Kurdish rebels killed 13 Turkish soldiers and wounded seven others Thursday in an ambush in southeastern Turkey, authorities said. It was the deadliest attack on Turkish troops in more than a year.
The ambush near the town of Silvan prompted an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Turkish capital of Ankara. At least two of the wounded soldiers were in critical condition, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported. (AP)
