IAF strikes in Gaza, foils terror attack

Army jets attack terrorist squad planning to target soldiers in southern Gaza Strip; two Palestinians hurt

Air Force jets attacked a terror squad planning to target IDF soldiers in the southern Gaza Strip near the fence on Monday. The IDF said the operation was a joint effort with the Shin Bet.

According to a report by the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, IAF jets fired a number of missiles at outposts east of Khan Younis. Two Palestinians were reportedly hurt in the attack, one of them sustaining serious wounds. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital.

On Sunday, three Qassam rockets exploded south of Ashkelon and in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. The rockets landed in open areas; no injuries or damage were reported.

The Palestinians reported that the IDF launched a strike in response which left seven wounded, among them four children. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit denied an attack took place.

IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz on Friday held a status evaluation meeting following the resumption of rocket fire. Military elements said that Hamas is not preventing other groups from firing rockets and is possibly trying to test Israel's response. Hamas is being held accountable for all rocket fire.
