EU official: Mideast peace talks must restart

The European Union's top foreign policy official says restarting peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians is more important than a possible UN resolution on Palestinian statehood.

Catherine Ashton said on her way into a meeting of EU foreign ministers Monday that no one yet knows what the resolution would say. She says it would be up to individual countries, not the EU, to decide whether to support the Palestinians' efforts at a resolution in the UN General Assembly. (AP)
