Military police fired warning shots in the air at a protest outside the Egyptian Defense Ministry in Cairo on Saturday after stone-throwing clashes broke out between thousands of demonstrators and opponents, witnesses said.
They said several people were injured, including at least three children, apparently by stone-throwing as demonstrators and what appeared to be thugs traded stones broken from street pavements. A Reuters witness said at least 15 rounds of gunfire, apparently blanks, were heard, sending people screaming. (Reuters)
