Sudan rolls out new currency after separation

Sudan is introducing a new currency, stripping its banknotes and coins of symbols linked to South Sudan, which declared independence this month after more than 50 years of on-and-off war.
South Sudan began using its own currency nearly a week ago. While the new Sudanese notes are similar to the old ones, the 10 pound banknote no longer depicts a large-horned cow, a symbol of South Sudan's western Bahar Gazal region. (AP)
