Knesset to discuss cancellation of summer recess

The Knesset House Committee is expected to hold a meeting to discuss the possibility of cancelling the parliament's summer recess in light of the socioeconomic crisis in the housing and the medical fields and the escalating commodity prices, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said in a letter to Interior Minister Eli Yishai.
Yishai, who urged Rivlin to gather the meeting, said that the cancelling the recess is necessary measure. He urged other elected representatives to take action to address the shortages crises faced by the public. Earlier, Opposition Chairwoman Tzipi Livni also urged the summer vacation to be cancelled.
