The Knesset presidium has rejected Interior Minister Eli Yishai's proposal to shorten the parliament's summer recess due to the wave of social protests.
MK Zeev Elkin (Likud), Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and MK Ahmad Tibi (United Arab List-Ta'al) were among those opposed to the proposal. Tibi called it "populist," stressing that Ramadan takes place during the month of the recess. (Moran Azulay)
