Peres: Public surprised with housing protest

President Shimon Peres met with representatives of the housing protest on Monday and said he was surprised with the intensity of the protest.

"I think the majority of the public was surprised with the seriousness of the issue," he said. "The general impression is that the middle class will manage, they didn't know how serious the matter is. The think the public itself was surprised." (Ronen Medzini)
