Reprimanded officer appointed navy chief
Defense Minister Ehud Barak confirmed the appointment of Brigadier General Ram Rotberg to the role of navy commander. Rotberg served as the chief of naval intelligence during the Second Lebanon War and was reprimanded by the then chief of staff Dan Halutz over his accountability in an incident where the Hezbollah hit a naval ship during the war.
