Minister: Lower VAT on water tariffs

National Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau called on the government to waive the VAT component on water tariffs in light of the drastic price hikes in the tariffs over the past 18 months.
"The VAT burden is, in a sense, a tax on basic and essential goods that does not benefit the public water market and so there is no need to demand the fee from the public," the minister said. (Attila Somfalvi)
