Diplomat: Palestinian recognition will undermine US relations

A senior western diplomat said that if the Palestinians continue their strategy of seeking recognition as a state from the UN "it would make it very difficult for the US to continue the diplomatic relations as is."
According to the senior diplomat, the main goal is to renew negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. "To go to the UN is not the right thing to do," explained the diplomat and added: "In spite of the economic crisis, the US is committed to a strong Israel and there is no argument over that issue between the parties in congress."
