PA condemns approval of 1,600 housing units in J'lem

Senior Palestinian official Saeb Erekat accused Israel of favoring settlements over peace following the report claiming Interior Minister Eli Yishai had green-lighted the construction of 1,600 housing units in the northeastern neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo in Jerusalem.

"We call upon the US administration to support our endeavor at the UN because the only way to preserve the two-state solution now is the admittance of the state of Palestine," he said. (Elior Levy and AP)
