Political sources: Abbas resolved to forgo direct talks

Following the Palestinians' announcement that they are planning to apply for UN recognition of a state on September 20, political sources said that "It appears that Mahmoud Abbas has decided to forgo direct negotiations."
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still believes that progress in the peace process can only be made through direct negotiations and not through unilateral decisions," they added. (Attila Somfalvi)
