Texas Governor Rick Perry formally enters the 2012 White House race Saturday, looking to muscle aside Mitt Romney as the Republican frontrunner to take on President Barack Obama.
After months of campaigning in all but name, Perry was expected to make his candidacy official at events in the key early primary states of South Carolina and New Hampshire, joining a crowded field of rivals in what is already shaping up as a slugfest for the GOP nomination. (AFP)
