An armed group abducted an Italian aid worker in the town of Nyala in western Sudan, the Italian foreign ministry and medical aid group Emergency said on Monday.
Francesco Azzara, a 34-year old logistics specialist, was taken from his car while driving to the airport on Sunday at around 5 pm, Emergency said. It said Azzara was on his second tour in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, where Emergency has operated a pediatric centre since July 2010. (Reuters)
