Addressing the nationwide protest against the high cost of living, Opposition Chairwoman Tzipi Livni said that "the amazing thing happening outside the Knesset can and should lead to talks of a new Israel." She made the statement during a special Knesset session gathered during the summer recess in response to the social protest. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was absent from the meeting.
Some 100 people are taking part in a protest march from Jerusalem's Horse Park (Gan HaSus) towards the Knesset. Some of the activists arrived from Tel Aviv and Beersheba. (Moran Azulay and Omri Efraim)
