Gov't to appoint Arab woman to team dealing with social protest

The state has agreed to appoint an Arab woman to the Trachtenberg Committee, which was established by the government to deal with the social protest movement's demands. The announcement came in response to a Supreme Court petition filed by women's and civil rights organizations.

"The state's announcement proves the power of the social protest," said Attorney Anat Tahon-Ashkenazi, who wrote the petition. "I hope that the government's response to the petition indicates that we will not be forced again to demand what should be obviously granted." (Omri Efraim)
