Witness: Libyan rebels enter Tripoli

A convoy of Libyan rebels entered a western district of Tripoli and appeared to meet little or no resistance from Muammar Gaddafi's forces, a witness said on Sunday.

The rebels fired guns into the air in celebration near the neighbourhood of Hay Andaluf, the witness said by telephone. A Reuters journalist saw thousands of rebels advancing toward Tripoli earlier in the day on the coastal highway from the west. (Reuters)
