Obama calls on Gaddafi to step down

US President Barack Obama called on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to recognize that he no longer controls Libya and step down to avoid further bloodshed.
In a statement issued by the president, Obama says that the uprising has reached a tipping point and that Gaddafi's regime appears to be collapsing. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
