40 dead as truck falls into pond in northern India

Indian police say at least 40 people have been killed after a truck overturned and fell into a roadside pond in the country's north.

Senior police official Brij Lal says the truck was carrying pilgrims traveling to a local temple Monday in Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh state. He says at least 12 people were injured in the accident. (AP)
