Knesset speaker seeks probe on minister's Sinai Egyptian troop decision

Responding to reports of approving the entry of Egyptian troops into the Sinai Peninsula an act which directly contradicts the Camp David agreements, the Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin directed Knesset legal advisor Eyal Yinon to examine whether the move necessitates Knesset approval.
"It is quite possible that the approval of deployment of Egyptian troops in Sinai, which was declared a demilitarized zone in the peace treaty, will need Knesset approval," Rivlin said. "If it is indeed the case, I will ask that the matter be brought before the Knesset. An agreement between the prime minister and defense ministers and even cabinet approval is simply not enough."
