Report: Egypt pressured Israel to abort assassination of Hamas PM
Palestinian sources told the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram that "Egypt has forced Israel to cancel a plan to assassinate the Hamas prime minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh."
According to the report, Egypt pressured Israel to abort the mission, which was decided upon following the recent multiple terror attacks near Eilat. Egypt also contacted the Islamic Jihad and convinced it to declare a ceasefire, while also negotiating a ceasefire with Hamas and the other factions in Gaza, the report claimed. (Roee Nahmias)
