US adds Syrian foreign minister to sanctions list

The United States added the Syrian foreign minister, Walid Muallem, to the black list of persons subject to its sanctions, the US Treasury Department said Tuesday.
"We are increasing our sanctions against the whole Syrian state by putting more pressure directly on three senior members of Assad's regime who are primarily responsible for its activities," the Treasury stated. (AFP)
