Palmer report: Israel should apologize, pay compensation

The United Nations-led Palmer report, tasked with investigating the events on board the May 2010 Gaza-bound flotilla, acknowledges the volatile security situation in Israel, stating that “Israel faces a real threat to its security from militant groups in Gaza," the New York Times reported on Thursday, a day before the scheduled release of the report.

The report also determined that IDF soldiers acted in self defense, but used excessive force, and recommended that Israel issue "an appropriate statement of regret" and pay compensation to the victims' families. (Ynet)
